How does a TPL know what it is generating ?

I am writing a very generic TPL that will do some stuff and run another TPL.

The only thing I have not figured out is how the TPL knows if it is generating HTML, JSP, etc.

When I ran iwpt_compile and looked at the IPL, i noticed the only thing that has the destination file is in %iw_arg. Not certain how to reference that.

The other option that I have is to read templating.cfg and parse it out.

Any tips/pointers/RTFMs appreciated.

hi ,

U can sepcify the type of output file generated by TPL in extension attribute of [presentation] tag in templating.cfg

a sample templating.cfg
[HTML]

[/HTML]

u can change 'extension=html' to 'extension=js'

What about looking at the return from iwpt_get_ofile_name()? - This is assuming you've already provided the (default) output file name on the command line when calling the PT - which is generally required.

If you'd like to use command line parameters to determine the file type you could use
iwpt_get_flag_param('ARG_FLAG') method.

e.g. Command: /opt/iw-home/bin/iwpt_compile.ipl -pt 'TPL_PATH' -ofile 'OUT_FILE' -iw_pt-dcr 'DCR_PATH' -iw_pt-fileType js

my $fileType = iwpt_get_flag_param('-iw_pt-fileType');
