iw-webd as customer web server

Hi,

I need to virtualize a simple html site, for this can I configure iw-webd also as my customer web server?

As for my understanding for virtualization needs a separate customer web server instead of iw-webd ( Teamsite in-built apache ), but I do not have answer for ‘why can not we use iw-webd itself instead of separate web server’. Could anybody explain me?

If at all we can use iw-webd for virtualization, what are the different configurations need to be performed?

Hi,

the simple answer is: "You should not do this".

The Iwov-webd (together with the iwproxy) is custom-configured to do it's teamsite-specific task. It should be considered as a black box. Any change in the web-config could stop Teamsite from working as it should AND you probably lose your support on this server. My advise would be to use a second webserver for previewing.

Then again you could try the following. In httpd.conf.template add these at the correct location:


Order allow,deny
Allow from all
Options All


and

Alias /iw-mount/ "y:/"

And rewrite.conf.template:

RewriteRule ^/iw-mount/ -

Bounch iwebd and try out.

All this could go terribly wrong because I believe Teamsite webd&proxy treat /iw-mount urls different from other urls. You could prevent this by using another prefix for this (like say "my-iw-mount") but then you need to tell the iwproxy this as well. Oeh, don't this this will work. Good luck, you'll need it.
