Apache (customer web server) configuration error

Hi,

We weren't able to preview any of our DCRs. On investigation we found that our apache webserver is not running. The proxy server tries to map onto this webserver instance but fails. After making changes to the httpd.conf file and doing "httpd start" we get this error:

We are using TS 6.1 and Apache 1.3 on Solaris 8.

Does anybody know why we are getting this error?

Is it that difficult to understand the error message? It says it is finding a syntax error on (or near) line 206 of your

/etc/apache/httpd.conf

file - we don't have access to your file, you do - so rather than telling us about all the modules you've loaded into apache - why not look at the conf file and if you can't figure it out yourself - post the conf file.

Try changing:

 <Directory /fms/Interwoven/Teamsite/cssdk/wasp4.5.1/bin>

to:

 <Directory "/fms/Interwoven/Teamsite/cssdk/wasp4.5.1/bin">

and see if that fixes the problem (note - you seem to have a directory path listed without quotes in at least two places - but one of them is being conditionalized out so it probably isn't causing any problems right now. Line 206 is just after the end of the Directory clause which is not being conditionalized out.
Taking a quick look at the documentation, it looks to me like the requirement for the quotes is because of the dots ('.') in the path which could be interpreted as part of a regex - in fact you might need to escape them with a backslash ('\') but it should be okay as is, since '.' will match '.'

Hi,

Thanks for the help. We reconfigured httpd.conf and now apache has started.
However, we are faced with another problem.
While doing the preview, we get the following error:
Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /iw-mount/FMS/main/fidelity/dev/WORKAREA/poc_wa/htdocs/zz_tst_root_1_preview.html on this server.

The owner of the temporary file is root and group is nobody.

How can we change the owner and group so that every user can do a preview.

Sorry, the group is others.
Even if we login as root and try to preview, we get the same error.
