Generating 2 files from one template

I am planning to implement a 'printable page' solution for the site that I work on. The main 'assemble' template browses to a number of content includes to make the full page text.

When the main output page is generated, complete with navigation, etc., I want the system to automatically generate another page, containing only the content includes, to a specified initial directory (eg. /print/.......)

Can anyone give me some pointers to this approach, please?

I believe the better approach is to use CSS - Try googling "css printable page" and you should find a large number of articles that suggest this technique. This has the advantages of not requiring an extra page to be generated / stored as well as allowing the settings to be tweaked in testing to get what you want.

I have not personally had to develop this kind of solution, but I did work on a site which had such a solution and it appeared to work quite well (i.e., All I did was include a style sheet in the generated page and people got the results they wanted when printing them out.)

Thanks. Ideally I would use CSS, but it would require a complete re-write of the page templates, as the current design still heavily utilises nested tables. This is why I am investigating using a second file alternative, until the site is redesigned.

Then you have several options:

I suppose you could also use Java or some other programming language in much the same way that you would use Perl too - I never have though.

Since you seem to have not been able to find information on your own, I'd say your "easiest" approach is going to be iw_ostream. The help files located at: http://{yourservername}/iw/help/tst/pt/TeamSite__PT__iw_ostream.html will get your started.
