Cloning From HPUX OS to AIX/ UNIX works ?

Hello All,

I have existing setup of 6.7 SP2 running on HP-UX and now we want to upgrade to 7.x, can I clone and upgrade on different UNIX OS for content and perform the upgrade, will that works for non windows target server ? or it must require Migration of data using migration tool.

Anyone performed the same from HPUX to AIX ? any challenges or lesson learned.

I'm presuming you are keeping the database the same and just moving the Content Server.

Content Server binaries are different for different OS, so cloning it wont work. The supported method is to install it to target OS and then point it to existing database. If you want to lessons learn, search the forums.

Thank you Johnny Gee for response. I have DB also need to be migrated, Oracle on HPUX OS to Oracle on RedHat Linux.

I believe considering DB vendor is common, should not be a problem.

On your suggestion what about content placed on HP-UX file system will work on Red Hat Linux by doing mount and un-mount ?

also checking forum, unable to find different OS platform clone lesson learnt , seems only professional services only can support.

It should. Documentum does not modify the file as part of the import. It keeps the binary file intact and only renames them it puts them on the file store.

Thank you for response, I have seen this and this does not talk about anything on cross platform. according to you does this valid for different OS and vendor of CS and DB libraries?

You need to clone to different OS first on 6.7. Then make sure you dont have any errors. Once that is done, you can then upgrade to 7.x. If you try to do both, you wont be able to determine if any errors were due to OS changes or the upgrade.
