Java Query

For saving the DCR content into database we are doing this activity using java api not through data deploy.

I very new to java. so please let me know if iam wrong anywhere

i have done the following activity.

1. on save i am calling a js which will inturn call a applet.

2. From the applet i will be calling a servlet which will connetc to the DB.

i have a very basic query. what is the right place to keep all this files.

1. javascript
2. Applet file.
3. java file.

You are re-inventing the wheel. If you are new to java what is your pressing need to do it this way. DD works OOTB and you will be able to get more help asking q's about DD here than what you are trying to do.

I am not sure why your called a Applet and then the servlet. Insted you can call the servlet using FormAPI call server method.

You need to make sure that the DCR is saved before you call the servlet to update the database.

We call DataDeploy using servlets, but they are handled as external tasks in a workflow and not within a template. This is much more reliable than using the asynchronous call server method of form api.

I am not sure why you would be using a servlet here.

The java servlet code would get bundled as part of the customer toolkit (see the Custom Java Code section of the user interface customization guide).

The above pertains to TeamSite 6.1 and later, as I am not sure what version of TeamSite you are using.
