How do we have a .cgi file for a .ipl file ?
or could anyone tell me the difference between .ipl and .cgi files ?
Hi ,How do we have a .cgi file for a .ipl file ?or could anyone tell me the difference between .ipl and .cgi files ?RegardsRohit
Hi fish ,Thanks for ur reply !Using TS 6.5 SP1 win 2003I am new to perl . I browsed through the httpd/iw-bin dir . There I saw that for every .ipl there was a file with .cgi extension .for e.g, there was a file called iw_cgi_wrapper.cgi & iw_cgi_wrapper.ipl .If we open .ipl we can see the code , But if we try to open .cgi ( present in iw-bin ) in notepad , we can see only garbage value .So just wanted to know how there corresponding .cgi files were created for the .ipl files .Also I have heared that if we have .cgi for an .ipl or .pl then we need not to worry about the CBANG operator ( #! ) that we used at first line of perl code .Could u pls let me know how can i make my .ipl files such that they can run on any system which has perl . ( we hardcode the perl executable path at first line ) . So if we have to run the code on another system , we need to change the first line of perl code ie., the path of perl exe on first line ) RegardsRohit pathak
ipl files are for running background process and cgi files are used where you have to display back information to user or need any interaction.
could you be more specific what your requirement is?
