Search and Indexer Question

Hi,

Is every search operations goes through Indexer in WSMP or it will do DB search in some cases? For example, when searching task objects on the task name, is the search doing a DB search on the DB field or actually it's handled by the Indexer module?

Depends on your search form. If the search form takes the search text as a fulltext condition, then it is going through Indexer. If it is a profile condition, a DB query is executed after translation by WSMP.

What would be the case if indexer is off/not configured? Would it produce error or something else?

If fulltext search is invoked when the Indexer is not running, it will give you an exception in the log file and a useful end user message on screen.
