Deploying Edition Fails

I have the problem that whenever I try to deploy an edition it fails. Deploying directly from staging works without any problems.

I get an error "ERROR: Failed FindServerByName with TeamSite"
"00029LIB: 2006-04-14 10:10:13 ERROR: Could not process area path"

OpenDeploy version 6.1.0
TeamSite 6.7.0

Any help would be appreciated, I have already opened a ticket with support, but thought I might check with the collective brain trust.

Hmm - It looks like it might be a DNS issue - though it looks like it's trying to find a server named "TeamSite" and failing - I don't see anywhere that you're referencing a server by that name. You're source server appears to be named "INTERWOVEN", but that's clearly not the same thing.

Maybe that means something more for you - or your network folks...

Were you ever able to resolve this? We just established a TS 6.7 environment and are now seeing the same issue. Our deployments work fine in our TS 6.1 environment (OD 6.0.2 SP1). I figured I would check with you before opening a IW Support ticket.

Actually - that wouldn't surprise me. Edition deployments are tied to TS operations - so you probably have to upgrade OD to 6.1.0 (or higher).

If you want to do file system based deployments (instead of teamsite-based - and I consider keying off the magic "/EDITION" and "/EDITION/IW_PREV" to be such) then you should be okay using 6.0.2.

I don't disagree with that statement, but the question remains... why was it working when I had 65 running and it doesn't work when 6.7 was installed?

I finally got a response from support. They have been able to reproduce the problem and have filed a bug report. I'll post any info I have on it as soon as I can.

The workaround is to just add the edition name to the path (or create a parameter):

/EDITION/myeditionname

Probably not the most flexible solution, but it works.

SOLUTION:

Support finally found out the correct solution to the problem. There is a parameter you have to set in the [size=2]OpenDeploy service configuration file (deploy.cfg). For OD 6.1 to work properly with TS 6.7, set this parameter/value:[/size]

[size=2][size=2]teamsite.version: 6.7.0

[size=2][size=2]It won't be in the file by default, so you'll have to add it. The documentation for this parameter can be found on page 76 of the install guide and noted on page 31 of the release notes.

The fix to this is to to modify the deploy.cfg file and to add or uncomment the line that specifies the teamsite version. It is REQUIRED at version 6.5 or above.

In my case it was

change:

We got the following errors with OD6.1.1 and TS6.7.1

We were able to resolve with the following configuration in deploy.cfg(OD-HOME\etc\deploy.cfg).

Add the below line in deploy.cfg.

teamsite.version: 6.7.1

Did you check that the teamsite.version property is uncommented in deploy.cfg and set to 6.7.0
