VFE change "new line" height

I am using VFE to capture paragraph data.
<br /><br />When the new line space for the captured text is too large in the generated HTML. Is there a way I can reduce the space between a new line in my presetation. <br /><br />For Eg: in my VFE if I enter 'Example line 1' followed by enter then 'Example line 2', in the generated html it shows as 'Example line 1' followed by a line space followed by 'Example line 2'. Is there a way I can reduce the height of this line space in between the two lines.<br /><br />Thanks for any suggestions!!!
