Just wanted to know is it possible to keep content on S3 ? If yes then how CS will talk with the AWS

According to the Documentum Administration and Configuration guide, you can use Amazon S3 via EMC's ViPR. Alternatively, you could use external stores but you would need to implement your own plugin on the Content Server side.
