Uploading file to Teamsite Server from Local Drive

Hi ,
Can somebody please tell me how to upload or create new file in teamsite server . I have a file in my local drive and need to upload that file into my workarea on teamsite server. I have full access to my workarea and also has permission to write in that . I am using something like this

File file = new File("C:\localfile");

CSVPath vPath = new CSVPath("/default/main/web/WORKAREA");
CSWorkarea wa = transform.getClient().getWorkarea(vPath, false);
CSAreaRelativePath fileAreaPath = new CSAreaRelativePath(vpath + file);
CSSimpleFile newSimpleFile = wa.createSimpleFile(fileAreaPath);

Let me know if I am doing something wrong here. I am not able to upload this file . It says now work area found.

You did not mentioned the workarea name when using the cunstroctor CVSVPath for example workarea1 in the baranch /default/main/web is /default/main/web/WORKAREA/workarea1 and vpath /default/main/web/WORKREA is the root of all workarea vpaths for that particular branch.

Ok I added the WorkArea path and it works fine for me, now the code looks like this

CSVPath waPath = new CSVPath("/default/main/web/WORKAREA/demo");
CSWorkarea wa = client.getWorkarea(waPath, false);
String name= "C:\filename";

Now to create a simpleFile in that area I need to call wa.creaSimpleFile()
which needs CSAreaRelativePath in its argument.Now this relative path has to be the the waPath concat with the new file name which I am going to create in that directory or should be something else ?????

CSAreaRelativePath relPath = new CSAreaRelativePath(waPath + filename);
and then call ....
wa.createSimpleFile(relPath);

how should I create a new file in that workarea

Essentially uploading a file is simply creating a new file in TeamSite. The upload functionality is performed by your custom application (I'm assuming this, otherwise you would just use the "import" URL command, right?) and simply gets the file from the user's PC to a location where you can write it out to TeamSite's file system.

Hi guys--

Just wanted to share my particular scenario of the problem/solution. I was originally getting a CSObjectNotFoundException when attempting to create a CSSimpleFIle via the CSWorkarea.createSimpleFile(...) function. My CSWorkarea was instantiated correct with the correct VPath and I was passing the correct area-relative path to the createSimpleFile(...) function. I also had configured my CSClient with the correct credentials (username/pw/role) to write files to the particular workarea.

My particular problem was being caused due to the absence of the parent directories for the file I was trying to create. For example, if the file I was trying to create had the following area-relative path "assets/css/my_file.css", then I would get this exception if the "assets/css" folder hierarchy did not already exist in my workarea. Creating this directory structure first (through subsequent calls to CSWorkarea.createDirectory(...)) solved my problem.

As I side note, I request a correction to the CSSDK javadoc for the CSWorkarea.createSimpleFile(...) cause for CSObjectNotFoundException to be thrown. The Javadoc states the exception will be thrown "if the server cannot find this workarea". This spec is apparently incomplete -- missing parent directories will throw this exception as well.
