iwgen clt does not overwrite files

When I run the iwgen clt, it will create a file however it will not overwrite a file that already exists. I have checked the manual and it doesn't say anything about this. I have even changed the DCR and the TPL in case it was not generating the file because there was no need.

Is this a bug or a feature?

It's a feature. If the file is already generated, use iwregen.

iwgen / iwregen will not regenerate the file if there is not a need to regenerate the file. The file I was generating was not based on a DCR (it will be, but this is a place holder TPL) but on a static TPL file. Even though I changed the DCR it would not replace the file with a new updated version because the versions would be identical. Once I changed the TPL both iwgen and iwregen replaced the file with a new version as expected.

I presume that if the file was based on content in the DCR that changing the DCR would produce exactly the same results.

That presumption is correct. I've seen that behavior in action.
