How do I update the a template in a page. Updating a component is pretty simple. I am not able to do the same for templates.

Also,

Is there a concept of "Get latest templates" just like "get latest components"?

1. Goto a workarea in the template branch:

/livesite/mail/template

2. Select the templates ( or template directories ) that you'd like to update.

3. Run Get Latest Components

4. Ensure that Components are updated.

The GLC process will update the components inside the templates, just like a page.

5. Submit the changed templates to make them available to the pages.

Now update the appropriate pages:

1. Browse to the .page files that you want to update.

2. Run GLC, ensuring that a Templates option ( Components & Templates or Templates Only ) is enabled.

3. The pages will be updated w the latest templates.

NOTE: When you edit a page that you just updated via GLC and you see the "Resume" or "Discard" changes message, you must *always* discard changes in order to see the template updates.

Hello Shannon,

I seem to have a problem here. I renamed few of my components and submitted the changes. I then did a GLC on the page templates. The changes were reflected but the names remained unchanged on the templates.

Is this a known issue or am I commiting a silly mistake?

I dont believe that the names, or the geometries are updated in GLC. We are looking into this for version 3.0.

If you change the names of the component on the page or template, then change the name of the base component within the component branch, Update will not modify the name of the component on the page or template, but Overwrite will. (Using Update should not cause you to lose any changes, even changes to the component name.)

Hi Will and Shannon,

The same scenario, but what I've noticed when I use GLC and keeping my customized data is that the content that's based on the template doesn't get updated. Is this a bug for Ver. 2.1 ? The only time it'll work is if I overwrite the customized data.
