IWUI user UID

Version of teamsite I am installing:

tsconfig version <6.7.0 Build 56018 SYM Interwoven 20060324>

Issue: Page 113 of the Installing Interwoven Install guid (release 6.7) states: The IWUI user By default, is assigned the next available user ID (UID) by the installation program:
Creating Interwoven TeamSite UI Daemons User (iwui)...
Please choose a UID for the new user, or press to accept the
next available UID

I never see this question in my install. I want to control the UID issued to the iwui user. It seem to suggest above that at some time you could pass that option in the install.

The tsconfig script does not seem to pass the UID parameter in the account creation process.

/usr/sbin/useradd -c 'Interwoven TeamSite UI Daemons User' \
-d $IW_HOME \
-g $IWUI_GRP \
$IWUI || return $?

Anyone know if there is a way to control the attributes of the iwui user from the install. On another note anyone been able to automate the install of this product? I tried passing the install a file of parameters will limited success.
for example.. ./install -i console < fileofresponses.txt.

On your first question, I believe that most (perhaps all) flavors of Unix will just assign the next numeric UID by default. So, because there is nothing specified in the installation program, it might assume the next ID. I suppose you could install it with IWUI's default options and then simply change the UID in /etc/passwd.

I haven't tried this and don't know if this might break something but for various reasons, I've had to edit /etc/passwd directly in the past and haven't really had problems.

If you go this route, you will also have to update all files owned by iwui to the new UID. That is quite the pain in the ****. You are better off adding the "iwui" user before installation with your desired UID. This used to work--I assume it still does.

I was going to add the IWUI user before the install, as a possible solution. It does check for its existence in the password file and skips its creation if found. I was hoping to be able to have more control over the install. Oh well..

Open a case with support - I'm pretty sure there used to be a prompt for this (perhaps in 5.5.2).
