Customizing the Visual Editor

How can I add and remove buttons fromt the visual editor that is used for textarea fields? This is Ektron's eWebEditPro correct? So, there should be the ability to add buttons that will, for instance, insert a table? I would also like to get it to read a stylesheet and make the classes defined in it available to the user. Is that possible?

I don't think it's possible. The next version of LiveSite is switching to a different (and MUCH better) visual editor.

Jason, I did find some jsps that control the datums's behaviours. The one that seems relevant to the textarea datum specifically seems to be:
iw-home\httpd\webapps\content_center\livesite\javascript\properties\type-textarea.jsp to alter the display and behaviour of the buttons.

I haven't tried any customisations using this method yet, but it's worth a look.

This is an unsupported change and service packs/patches can ( and probably will ) overwrite that file. So, if you want to remove the editor, you can via that file ( I think it's that one ), but you need to remember to back it up prior to upgrading.

Also, as Will mentioned we are looking at a *much* better editor for a future release.

LiveSite 3.0 will make use of the TinyMCE editor. As Shanon says if you modify that file you will risk losing your changes when you upgrade.
