Hi ,
Using TS 6.5 SP1 Win 2003
We have a requirement in which user can enter Multi-lingual languages on DCT form .
Suppose we have a news DCTs having two items news title , news description .
news title is a textbox & news description is VFE .
We have a database script in news.tpl which takes the news title and news description & insert them in Data Base ( MS SQL Server 2005).
I data base what we find is that if we enter special characters ( like Chineese ) then new title field contains gargbage value in DB , but news description field has the HEXCODE for Chineese characters .
The only reason for this is that VFE stores the characters in HEXCODE code , but simple textbox does not .
Could any one let me know what encoding should i do at DCT level so that all the characters should appears as they are and not the gargbage values .
While displaying through TPLs I am using HTML::Entities::encode() if the value is comming from textbox , so my special characters appears fine on resulting jsps.For VFE field i need not to worrry .
iwpt_output("
". HTML::Entities::encode($headline). "
$description
");
Now the scenario is different . In TPL i have logic to insert the value of DCRs to DB .
Then use these values in some other news landing jsps .
Could any one tell me how to encode the that are comming from textbox so that it can handle special characters ( like Chineese ) .
