restrict file deployment for Users

Hi,
we are planning to open the deployment to all users.we want to restrict the users so that only specific files can be delpoyed by the users. Can this be done by administrator or we have to check in our deployment CFG file ?

There is nothing, as far as I know, in the Admin GUI - or the deployment configuration files - that allows you to restrict the files which are deployed by user. You would need different deployment config files with different exclusion directives - which sounds to me like a maintenance nightmare - but you can restrict (from the Admin GUI) which users can run which deployment. From the command line I don't believe you can restrict on a per-deployment basis.

A potentially better solution would be to create a CGI script (accessed as a custom menu item or via a workflow from TeamSite) which determines the user and then validates the file(s) being deployed against some custom (not OpenDeploy deployment) configuration file before issuing the actual command to perform the deployment.
