Using Perl

Context - We have kept our Perl scripts in the Content Centre in a particular
branch and made a softlink out of it to access the files without specifying the workarea.
E.g
The file leftnav.pl is @ //fid1/IPS/main/_LibShare/WORKAREA/wa/templates/presentation/perl

and we are accessing it via TPL by calling -
`/iw-home/iw-perl/bin/iwperl /_LibShare/templates/presentation/perl/topnav.pl $pageId $site 2>&1`

(_LibShare is the softlink)

Requirement - To keep the common functions used by all the Perl files in a separate file and then use them.

E.g. sub getRoot is a function used by 3 Perl files File1.pl, File2.pl and File3.pl

Now, if we keep the Logging functions in Log.pm and try to use it - by specifying

use common;

in File1.pl, the following error is encountered -

Can't locate Log.pm in @INC (@INC contains: /fms/Interwoven/Teamsite/iw-perl/lib /fms/Interwoven/Teamsite/iw-perl/site/lib /fms/Interwoven/Teamsite/iw-perl/vendor/lib .) at /_LibShare/templates/presentation/perl/breadcrumb.pl line 2. BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at /_LibShare/templates/presentation/perl/breadcrumb.pl line 2.


Question - How can we include pm files lying in the same folder in the Content Centre? Or is it mandatory that we keep them in iw-perl lib folder?

You will certainly find it easier to put your modules in to iw-perl/site/lib - but you can get around it either by using the

-I

flag on the command line or on the #! line of the perl script, or using the

use lib "..."

directive in your perl scripts - something like:

use lib "/_LibShare/WORKAREA/wa/templates/presentation/perl";
use Log.pm;
