imIndexAgent.exe is taking up 60-80% CPU
Artlav316
Our clients started to complain that it was taking 1-2 min to open up small Word documents.
I check our worksite server and imIndexAgent.exe (listed in task-manager processes as IMINDE~.EXE) was taking up 60 CPU with 80% spikes.
I stopped and restarted both indexing services and things went back to normal for a few hours then we started getting calls again, you guess it imIndexAgent.exe was taking up 60-80% CPU.
I stopped and restarted both indexing services again and things went back to normal for a few hours again.
This keeps happening, any ideas?

You should move your indexer to a dedicated indexing server. The indexers are notorious for gobbling up
resources.
Also make sure you are on the most current version, or have the latest service packs and patches applied for whatever version you are running. Older versions had issues with the Indexer processes, especially with Outlook messages, which were corrected in later releases.
Are you also running SQL on the same server? Check your process resource utilization and make sure you have enough memory for all processes. If SQL starts having to swap to disk, your performance will go straight to ****. Obviously, a dedicated SQL server is also the best way to go, but even so one of the most common issues I see is a SQL server that has outgrown its available memory.
You should also make sure you are running SQL optimization DAILY, not once a week, in your SQL maintenance plans.
