Generating notification for a conflict in submit task

Hi,

I have not set override=t in my workflow submit task.Can the conflict,which prevents the files from being submitted to staging area,be handled so that a notification can be sent to the Teamsite Master to login and resolve conflict.
Any clue would be helpful.

Dont think so, but you can achieve this by adding an external task within your workflow ... which checks for the status of the files (to be) submitted and marks a mail to the admin for manual resolution.

If you define your submittask with a success and failure transition specification - I believe that a conflict would be considered a failure and could therefore be transitioned to an externaltask that sends email followed by whatever you want - even the same submittask (with the firsttimeonly attribute set to "t" -- this is documented in the DTD, but not [ well ] unfortunately, in the manual)

Hi all,

I use TWO submittasks.

-Submit Files (with timeout)
--Email Administrator that there is a conflict
--Retry Submit Files
--Email Admin that Conflict has been resolved
-Continue

The first submittask has a 5-minute timeout. If it times out, there is a problem/conflict, so transition to the Email Admin task, and Retry to Submit. The admin has an email that there is a problem, and resolves the conflict. When the conflict is properly resolved, the Retry Submit task completes, and an email is sent to acknowledge that the Conflict is resolved, and the job continues.

If the first submittask completes without a problem, it transitions straight to the Continue tasks, bypassing all the conflict resolution tasks.

It's been very effective.

Depending on how you're coding the WFT and what version of TeamSite you're using - you can have either a single

successorset

or a pair of

success

and

failure

transitions specified.

I believe the success/failure transition was added sometime between 5.5.2 and 6.5 - though it first seems to get documented in the 6.5 workflow manual.

TS 6.7 includes an updated WFConstructor.pm that enables you to use the success/failure transition - but I [thread=15934]posted a fix[/thread] for the older WFConstructor.pm that does the same.

That part of the DTD means you can use either a single

successorset

sub-element or a

success

and (optional)

failure

sub-elements. As examples - for XML code:

<submittask ...>
    ...
    <successorset>
        <succ v="submit_task_successor"/>
        ...
    </successorset>
    ...
</submittask>
or
<submittask ...>
    ...
    <success>
        <succ v="success_successor"/>
        ...
    </success>
    <failure>
        <succ v="failure_successor"/>
        ...
    </failure>
    ...
</submittask>

This works perfectly. I use the "failure" element in the submit task to transition to an external task. The external task sends an email to the author. Using the firsttimeonly command works too!
