Adding new link to DCT UI or customize the existing link

Here is my problem. When user got project assignment email, they will click the edit link and trying to modify the DCT(DCR). i.e., they are not going to the TS UI enviornment. I would like to add a link for a pdf help file on that DCT(in the row of links preview and generate).

In customization guide, I found info about only displaying/hiding the links. The other way for this is, cutomize the existing link Generate. Change the name and modify the functionality. Is it possible?

In worst case, add a button in fields area,but this may not looks good. Could you please advice me the possibilities..I appreciate your help.

There is no supported way to do what you want.

You can do one of the following:
- Customize jsp components of DCT Form Page.
The one you may want to look at is "/iw-cc/formspub/datacapture_buttonframe.jsp". You'll have to create custom
version of it under iwhome/local/config/lib/content_center/customer_src...and compile it using "make_toolkit.ipl ".

- Modify the form using FormAPI + JavaScript.

Both approaches are hacks, you'd be on your own in both coding and support.

Sure, you can always create DCT specific "button" item with callout to do what you please.
