Can we send HTTP request as post deployment

I want to run something like http:///abc.jsp?pageName=index.html as part of my DNR process.

I think we can achieve this using a cgi script or using Java to send a http request but not completely sure. Another thing comin to me is where it will run..Can we run this on the source TS webserver?

"source TS webserver" seems to be contradictory. Do you want to run a DNR script on the "deployment source" (typically TS server) or the "deployment target" (typically a web server)? You can do either. For a DNR, you can pretty much invoke anything that you can run from a shell. Is that what you were asking?

I have done this before & it is not too tough. However make certain you are running something that will return parsable information, i.e. a chunk of XML for success or failure and not an HTML page that shows success or failure. The DNR runs as a batch process so the results are not viewed by a user.

This DNR will not return anything....let me give bit more context over here..
In our system to clear the cache on portal we run a url like

www.abc.com/clear.do?pageName=p1

This invokes a action class on the application server and clears the cache tree in the system.
I want to run this particular url as part of my DNR which I thought we can pass this http request using cgi wrapper.
If we run this URL using customer webserver on source TS machine and post the information on destination then it should work similar to clearing the cache content by using browser window.

I want to be sure if I am thinking on correct lines and this can be achieved before giving final words to implementation team Smiley Happy

Yes iwovGrad, we can run DNR on either side but I want to avoid touching the production servers as much as possible.

Sure, I have done that exact same thing. It is easy.

Something like this in perl:

Is there any way to make this request asynchronus ..at the moment when we post the url it takes 2-3 mins to come back and other requests are held in queue.. I want to run this in asynchronous mode or with multiple threads ..any quick help is appreciated
