Using iwmigrate

Gidday all,

We have installed TS 6.7 on one server and have TS 6.1 on another server, can one use the iwmigrate clt to copy the backing store from one server to another?

I feel [color=red]iwmigrate can be used to within same server to split the backing store, it won't work for two different servers[/color]

below is from manual:
iwmigrate can be used to split a single Content Store into multiple Content Stores, or to move the contents of a store to another location without losing the history of submit events for the editions.

Interwoven made changes to the backing store to improve performance and disk space usage and they recommed to migrate the backing store using iwmigrate to 6.5 or later versions. If you not do so, you might face performance, memory and unstability issues.

Just a thought, not sure it is would work, but when we map drive; new mapped drive becomes visibile as local drive for the same machine. If this is ture then can't we use this new drive as new location for our iwmigrate, and copy over the store from one machine to another??

Anyone any suggestion?? won't this work??

Eevn I am not sure will your suggestion works or no, did not get that to work in my assignments. Take a case of two different machines hosted on two different OS then what ??

When you say "different OS" - do you mean:

'4' is a no-go - Interwoven has never supported migration of backing stores from Windows to Unix or Unix to Windows. The only way to do that kind of migration is by coding your own custom solution (or hiring someone who's already gone to that effort).

I should really look this up in docs, rather than question you... Smiley Very Happy

but from the way I understood iwmigrate to work, I would think it's pretty neutral to the OS. Oh well, I'm firmly fixed in Solaris for the moment Smiley Wink
