Invoke a sql script from the Data Deploy Config

Hello,

I have a requirement to run a SQL script every week. This script is bunch of INSERT/UPDATE/DELETE statements and nothing else.

Question:

Should I be able to invoke this sql script from the Data Deploy Config without using DNR ?

Any help would be appreciated.

Team Site: 6.5
Data Deploy: 6.0.2
OS: Solaris.

Yes, you can.

Your config may look something like the following:

[HTML]

...

[/HTML]

And you would call it much the same way as a typical datadeploy but you would need to add -k iwdd-op=do-sql and -k user-action=insert_stuff for the spec provided above.

Thanks much for the reply. It works fine if the SQL statements are embeded inside the dd_config file inside the "CDATA" tag.

Would it be possible to invoke/call a .sql file from the "CDATA" tag or anything? If it does not work I would have to manually copy the content of the .sql file inside the "CDATA" tag everytime I receive a new .sql file.

You could potentially use a script to create the deployment configuration file on-the-fly and then invoke DD on it.

You could also potentially ignore DD altogether and make a script using something like Perl DBI to process your SQL file directly.

I haven't ever tried it but I'm sure you could.

I recently had to do all sorts of things with the file system local to the database and was able to do so with the config I recommended. That is, the embedded SQL created, read from and deleted files as necessary and it actually worked quite well.
