Enhancing data deploy

I am working on a DCT where I capture the below 4 fields

Category Name
Category Code
Category Type
Reporting DisplayName

Among the data captured for above 4, I will be pushing only 3 to the database using data deploy while the Category code alone should be retained in the xml itself. How can I acheive this using data deploy? what configuration needs to be modified at dbschema, dtd file. If you have any solution please let me know.

You may want to start with DD manuals. Theres a bunch of configurations you will need to create/modify.

Which XMl are you talking about? The DCR itself or something else? Typically you deploy all or partial information from DCRs to a database, but the source (DCRs) are not modified. All the four fields will/should remain in the DCRs. You can deploy partial information from your DCR.
