Can anyone provide me with a pointer to documentation that would assist me in migrating from teamsite 4.5 to teamsite 6? I have alot of workflows and opendeploys and need to get started on this migration.

Don't know if there is any documentation, but there has been a lot of discussion about it. I have done this a couple times.

You will want to write a script to convert the OpenDeploy from 4.5 to 6. That is a fairly painful process but not that hard to script. I have done it once.

You also need to decide if you want to keep your history or bag the backingstore and import the latest editions. That is a HUGE decision and if you try to keep all history, plan for an extra couple weeks.

I believe that you will have to convert from 4.5 to 5.5.2 first, and then migrate from 5.5.2 to 6.5 (certain SP's will also probably have to be installed for the conversion / migration processes to work).

There used to be conversion (4.5 to 5.5.2) documentation on the Support site - but as both of those versions of EOL'd already I'm not sure how available the docs are anymore (though it wouldn't hurt to look).

As Nipper indicated - expect this to take a fair amount of time - and at least 2, if not 3 servers since you cannot convert on a single server and if you're going to be actively using your existing 4.5 server during the course of the conversion / upgrade process you will not be able to upgrade the 5.5.2 server either - as it will be needed as an intermediary for the entire process.

We already have teamsite 6 running on another server and have implemented a new project directly on that system, but then we have our old system wehre 80% of our content lives. We have a plan for the backing store once I get the 4.5 content migrated.

I'm the new guy on the project and have figured out how teamsite 4.5 works and opendeploy. I just need documentation telling me how to migrate a working 4.5 workflow to 6.

I'll do some searches on this site for 4.5 migration to 5.5. Any other pointers welcomed.
