how to encode the french characters in email subject

Hi,
Using T.S. 6.5 Solaris.

I need to put some French characters into email notificationmy for a workflow. The email notification is an external task calling an .ipl file. I don’t have any problem to put French characters in the email content. However, I have troubles on encoding the French characters to the email subject. I have tried the followings to encode é and none of them works:

é -- ? shown on the email subject
é -- é shown on the email subject
\u00E8 -- 00E9 shown on the email subject

By the way , the second one did work if I run it through windows environment. Anybody has any idea on this issue?

Make sure that the content-encoding of the message is set properly (utf-8), and that your e-mail client is a "proper" client, that supports encoding.

I remember having this problem in Outlook, but gmail or Evolution were fine.

Unfortunately our organization is using Outlook. The content of the email is OK, only the Subject doesn't work.
