MediaBin UI
Aryan
Hello All,
Is it possible to customize MediaBin UI with out any programming? (Like what we do for TeamSite or WorkSite?) Or is it mandatory that we use APIs to do the same.
When I say “customize” I mean changing the branding logo, changing the css etc.
Thanks,
Aryan.

Yes, this is possible. There is a Knowledge Base article available on this topic. Customer Support will pass along the details to you in the response to your MediaBin technet inquiry.

Hello MediaBin_MTS,
Thanks a lot for your response.
I have a question here. Do I have to contact the tech support team for this or will the tech support personel contact me?
If I have to contact them, It would be superb if you can share their contact details.
Thanks,
Yadhu

Perhaps we were mistaken, but we noticed the same questions posted to devnet as well as to support. Here is the content of a short article on replacing the logo in the MediaBin web client. It assumes you've installed MediaBin web client in the default location. You'll also notice there is a css file under the css folder called MediaBin.css. That is where you would want to make changes to the fonts.

You can change the default logo that gets displayed in the Preview pane of the MediaBin server. To display the logo of your choice in the preview pane, you need to perform the following steps:
Go to the C:\Mediabin Web Client\images directory on the MediaBin server
Select Thumbnails option from the View menu so that you can see the images
Replace the following files with your logo having the exact same size and resolution:
default_preview.jpg
default_preview256.jpg
empty_image128x128.jpg
empty_image16x16.jpg
empty_image256x256.jpg
empty_image284x284.jpg
empty_image32x32.jpg
empty_image512x512.jpg

Lets assume that I want the Web Client to have the same look and feel of my customer's web site.
To do that I would definitly have to change the layout of the web client drastically.
Is it possible without programming.
Also,
To what extent I can change the UI without programming. The listing of those configurable UI elements and the corresponding files would be very helpful.
Is there a guide to customize MediaBin UI?
Thanks a lot,
Aryan.

No, I'm sure you can't customize the web client to the extent that it would look like your customer's web applications. We have a couple customers that have coded their own web sites. For example, one takes another approach at interfacing to MediaBin where browsing folders is not even an option. The interface is entirely search based and uses heirarchical metadata searching criteria to facilitate access to different "group" of assets.
Normally, customers swap out the Interwoven logos with their own, and little else. Some have done more extensive changes with the help of our Customer Services Organization (CSO). The development group doesn't provide any documentation for customizing the web client. I will ask CSO if they have published any document and post it if so.

Here is some additional information from CSO:
The files below have either the MediaBin graphic or the Interwoven logo in them. These can be edited to contain the desired customer graphics instead. In order for the layout of the MediaBin Web Client to be preserved, the edited graphics should have exactly the same pixel dimensions. Note that there a some pairs of files that are a single graphic sliced into two pieces -- these are:

Also, the MediaBin.css file in \css\ will need to be edited to eliminate the Interwoven logo graphic from certain page backgrounds -- lines like:
BACKGROUND-IMAGE: url(../images/MediaBin-Background_128.jpg);
can be edited to eliminate the background image element or to point to a different graphic file.
