Unable to install TS-SP2, error : Cannot determine current TeamSite version

Hi,

TS 6.5
Solaris 9
Search Server 1.0.0
Search Server SP2

I just installed TeamSite 6.5 2nd time followed by Search server & SP for it on the same machine. When I am trying to install TS-SP2 its giving me error.

[red]Cannot determine current TeamSite version[/red]

Dont know where exactly I am going wrong. The installation sequence I am following is,

1. Base TeamSite 6.5 release
2. Base Search 1.0 release (same server as TS)
3. Search 1.0 Service Pack 2 (same server as TS)
4. TeamSite 6.5 Service Pack 2

The first Three went fine on both the occasion but failing with the step-4 of SP2 installation. I am quite sure I didnt remove any folder in both the occasion.

Anybody face this problem. Anything wrong anywhere?

The order of installation is ok, but tell me this: did you reboot in between every step?

The manual is telling you to reboot (maybe not between every step - I don't remember now) at different points during install. I believe that failure to reboot in between Base and SP2, may cause the error you mention.

Yes, I have rebooted after TS 6.5 base installation. I guess we dont need to reboot after search server installation.

Looks like Search installation on the same server is removing few TS related stuff.

I think you should not install Teamsite and Teamsite Search in the same server.

you should install Teamsite in one server, and install Search in a different Server.

mmm, the docs may say that for performance reasons, and depending on hardware and level of concurrent use, it can be recommended to install on separate machines. But for sure it's possible to install on one box. We have the same one-box-setup (Sol 9 + TS 65 SP2 w/ search) no problemo.

PS: what's the history of this box... you're mentioning this is the 2nd installation of TS 6.5?? What's been on this machine before? Older TS? Maybe you ought to start from a fresh clean system?

thanks Fred, i think i should have said , it is better to install in separate machines instead of saying " should "and of course you can install it in the same machine.

Hi PSR,

I'm trying to upgrade a client's TeamSite 6.7.1 to 6.7.1 SP1 (windows 2003 server) and I'm getting the same error - did you ever resolve your issue? I'm trying to avoid having to do a full reinstall as the server has a lot of configurations (many which are pushed out through a build process but several others which are manual)

When I run iwversion.exe, I get the correct version returned to me.
