GPL license?

Hi,

Anyone knows about license of the perl module for using TeamSite template?

A lot of free perl modules has the GPL license.
The module we want to use for TeamSite template is also says that
"This package is free software; you can redistribute it and/or
modify it under the same terms as Perl itself."

Are there something we have to do to use this module?

To use a module you will have to just use it.

Which module are you talking about? If its an Interwoven supplied module, I would recommend not modifying it since you will have to maintain with upgrades, etc.

I'm thinking ( and actually using) the module "XML::RSS" downloaded from CPAN.
Of course I don't edit inside of this module.
I just use it as a library (? how to say? I don't know...)

GPL license has very strict rules, so I'm afraid if I have to show my script which uses that module to the public...

Do you mean I do not need to show my script to the public?

I've thought so, but some guys told me I should confirm about licenses when I use any free modules...

If you want to know for sure - contact a lawyer - someone who can read, understand, and interpret the GPL for you.

If you're using it within an application that is for use on your own site and not something which is being sold to other people - you can generally just download/install/use the module without any issues. If you are intending to package your script to sell it to other people/organizations and your script uses modules that are covered by some licensing model - then you need to be more careful and make sure of the legal stuff. At least that's always been my interpretation.

Well, consult a lawyer if you want.

Basically, as long as you include the GPL license and the source code you should be fine.
