Opendeploy Failure Alert Mechanism

From time to time, our Opendeploy service will get hung up and needs to be restarted. The service is still running on the server but you cannot run any deployments. I was wondering if anyone has script or process in place for alerting the administrator when Opendeploy deployments are failing. We are running OD 6.0.2 on Windows 2000 SP4 server.
