use local editor with VisualFormat

Has anyone managed to a configure a button allowing users to edit the VF content locally, within their default html editor, e.g. homesite, dreamweaver, textpad.

Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated since the VF developer's guide isn't much help.

I realize this idea goes somewhat counter to separating content from presentation, but clients keep asking for it, or else endless updates to the presentation templates.
