use of "Remote Setup" tab in Launchpad settings
tobias
Using TS 6.5 on Solaris.
Can anyone explain the benefit of the "Remote Setup" tab in the Launchpad's settings?
According to the manuals you have to set up a network (drive) connection via your client's OS (here: Windows) and then enter the necessary information in the above mentioned place.
Why should I enter this information in TS, when I already have a direct connection (for example) to my TS workarea via the OS? In this case I could upload and download local files directly with the Windows Explorer and would not have to use TeamSite at all?
Or do I completely misunderstand what's behind this option?
After filling out the "Remote Setup" tab's fields nothing happened when I mark a file and click the "File" -> "Download" command.
I would appreciate if anyone could enlighten me on this issue.
Thanks and regards,
Tobias

Okay, I figured out what this is all about.
However, maybe it's just me, but I think the documentation lacks the necessary information, that from the TS user perspective nothing much changes when switching to the "Direct Edit" mode. This is at least true, as far as importing files is all the user needs the launchpad for.
