JavaScript in LiveSite component and .page

Antharix

How is javascript included in components and .pages? Can they be used? can .js files be included in components/.pages (as in htmls/JSPs/ASPs) If yes, please provide some example.

Thanks

LiveSite 2.2 has support for site-wide, page-wide, and also component-specific JS and CSS files. In the site and page scope, these are known as "Shared Resources". Shared resources for a site are cfg'd via editing the site descriptor, default.site. You must add the JS to the shared resources and also enable the JS file. The order of the "enabled" resources is maintained when a page is loaded. For page-specific JS, the shared resources are cfg'd via the Page Settings link in the Page Editor.

Hope this makes sense -- play around w it a bit and let me know if you have more questions on the Shared Resources.

For the component-specific JS/CSS, you may use the $URL_PREFIX token in the XSL to reference the workarea-root and then append the appropriate relative path to access the JS.

For example, let's say that we've got a JS file in our workarea at the js/foo.js relative path.

In the component's XSL, you can reference this JS via this HTML:

<script type="text/javascript" src="$URL_PREFIX/js/foo.js"></script>

Let me know if you have more questions.
