Disk Failures?

Has anyone come accross the following.

[Fri Sep 15 11:20:35 2006] DiskFail E:\iw-store\default WriteData(4096, 0) writing to E:\iw-store\default\d1\d61\df8\f47-1 ; TeamSite server has encountered disk failure.

I don't recall for sure if I have seen that same error. Although I have seen similar errors - if thats all you wanted to know.

Hi,

If that error is triggered bcos of a workflow, you might well, try reducing the cache size to 10000 in iw.cfg file.

Do a server restart once the above is changed.

We had an incident of disk failure (SAN corruption - some sort of network detachment..) 6 months ago and I think the error in TS log was (like) that. TS6.5 on Solaris 9.

We found lots of errors with fsck and iwfsck later on Smiley Sad

EDIT: I looked it up, and seems like my memory failed me... the error was

[Wed Mar 22 21:57:37 2006] Warning: disk failure "/extra/data/gwts/iw-store/default" statfs failed on /extra/data/gwts/iw-store/default (I/O error).
[Wed Mar 22 21:57:42 2006] Warning: disk failure "/extra/data/gwts/iw-store/workflow" statfs failed on /extra/data/gwts/iw-store/workflow (I/O error).

By the way did you get any report that the SAN or ESS actually failed? i.e. hardware failure or other infrastructure failure to confirm this?

is that Q directed at me? All I can remember is that our infrastructure guys did acknowledge that time that sth went wrong with the SAN. This is now a year ago, so that's all I can remember.
