I just started using the LiveSite page editor and I have some questions:

1. The click and drag interface is very quirky, half the time when you click and drag an object the interface ignores your down-click and you have to down-click again. Has anyone else experience this? Is there a work-around?

2. Is there a way to move a selected component only 1 pixel or are you stuck using the mouse to drag/drop the component over and over until it is in the correct spot?

3. Is there a way to auto-align components to each other?

4. Is there a way to auto-size the image component to the size of the referenced graphic automatically?

5. Is there a way to remove the embedded arrows that are placed on a graphic component when the component is smaller than the size of the referenced graphic?

6. Is there a way to view more than 18 components on the right margin console?

7. Is there a ‘component limit’ for a page? In other words, does the LiveSite editor get more quirky the more components are added to a page?

If this information is located somewhere please let me know!

Oh, a template question: Is there anyway to create a new template using an old template as the source?

Solution: Just down-click the component and THEN use your arrow keys

I'll answer ones that i know.

you can use the "Snap Components to Grid" feature this is set from "Page Settings" link on the top right hand corner of the page edit palett.

5. Is there a way to remove the embedded arrows that are placed on a graphic component when the component is smaller than the size of the referenced graphic?

these only show up when the component content is larger than it's container. They do not appear on the rendered page.

6. Is there a way to view more than 18 components on the right margin console?

the panel should have scroll bars are you not seeing any scroll bars.

7. Is there a ‘component limit’ for a page? In other words, does the LiveSite editor get more quirky the more components are added to a page?

currently no

Is there anyway to create a new template using an old template as the source

currently no, but you can add more than one template to a page so you could do something like make a header/footer template and right nav template to isolate the templated parts that could be dirrerent.

I've never seen this. You may have a quirky version of IE or Windows. Smiley Wink

There is no built-in way for a component's content to affect its geometry (size and position) in any way, except for the automatic expansion upon overflow. The "best practice" is to use components that are big enough to hold the content you need.

Within TeamSite, Edit -> Copy the old .template file to a new .template file.

It is not recommended using the Vanilla CC copy function for templates. This may cause unexpected behavior when trying to do updates.
