Hi all, I'm trying to get some data from a HTML form.
I created one component with a form like this:

[HTML]

[/HTML]

Then I put this component in one page file (say source.page).
I also created a new component which should get the form data and insert it into a database. I put this second component into the "target.page" specified in the action field of the form.
The problem is that my external object in target.page can't get the data.
Here is my JAVA code:


String myValue = (String) params.get("MyField");

What happens is that the "get" method returns a null value! It seems that the parameter is not passed to the target.page file.

Is there anybody that can help me with this issue?

You can debug parameter issues by putting the Echo component on your page. (It displays all the parameters, attributes, etc.) It is packaged inside of test_components.zip, and can be installed using component_import.bat. You will need to expand the zip file and then read the instructions within component_import.bat. The source of the component (Echo.java) should be available in impl.zip.

Hi,

The error you are getting is due to that you have not entered anything within the form (DCR) that you have created.

So when the programme will travarse through the HTML form, it will parse the coding as an xml record and retrieve the values that you have entered within the form.

Once you entered the data within the form, write down the xml format of it and save it.

Try to write the XSLT coding for the above xml record to parse and get your desired output.
