Calling a CGI from a custom UI link

So I have an external cgi which I would like to invoke from a custom UI link. Ideally the link should have the url="/iw-bin/scriptname.ipl" however when using this url, the link actually points to http://exampledomain.com/iw-cc/iw-bin/scriptname.ipl

Is there a special folder to store scripts that are invoked from the custom UI, or is there a way to keep that /iw-cc/ out of the resulting url?
