License File invalid

Have a OD 5.6 SP1 rcvr server running on Windows 2000. Did an in place upgrade to OD 6.1. Install was clean and complete but when I copy the od.lic file to the etc directory the service will start and stop right away.

The windows event log gives me an error of the JVM exited with a code of 3.

The od.log file says invalid license.

Working with support and number of licenses we have are not an issue.

If I remove the license file the service starts again successfully.

I have completed 5 other rcvr servers successfully and the last two now are running into this issue.

If you have a server with multiple network interfaces and the first network interface is not registered with real hostname then OpenDeploy license will not work.

Here is how to check

From Command Dos prompt

1. execute ipconfig /all (this will return details of all the interfaces.

2. ping -a ipaddress_first_interface This will return a fully qualified hostname
(eg myhost.mydomain.com)

You have to make sure the host name and domain name return by ping command matches the hostname/domain name when you create a OD license on Interwoven website.

If names does not match then you have to create a new license. Use hostname and domain name from ping output.

I believe this is a bug in OD 6.1 which does not scan all the interfaces. It takes a hostname from first inteface
