Getting no of parameters in IPL

Hi,

I'm calling an IPL file from a workflow. I'm getting few implicit parameters to this IPL file depends on the no of files attached to the workflow. Now I want to get number of parameters in IPL file.

Below code we use in case of function.

my(@myarglist) = @_;

Can you please tell me how to get this in IPL file?

I think you are looking out for number of arguments passed to an ipl within a workflow.

Just use this:

if (@ARGV lessthan 3)
OR
my ($var1, var2, var3... var n) = @ARGV;

The parameters to an ipl are passed as command line arguments.
So they must be retrieved as
my (@myarglist) = @ARGV;

Much better way of getting attached files in external task is shown below. It has been recommended in this Forum many times before.

# Get the value of the job ID, task ID, areavpath.
my ($jobid, $taskid, $areavpath) = @_[0..2];

# Get Job Objects
$job = TeamSite::WFworkflow->new($jobid);
$task = TeamSite::WFtask->new($taskid);
@job_files = $task->GetFiles();

It is often benefitial to use iw.cfg setting that prevents file passing as arguments in the first place:
[workflow]
external_task_add_filelist=false

The fewer parameters you require on the command-line for the externaltask - the easier it is to do debugging from the command-line...
