Error code returned from do_Generate

We are using TS6.7......I have one user that is not able to generate pages from DCRs (all other users generate with no problem). Here is the error that is logged when this one user tries and receives the VERY generic "An error has occurred on Server" message:

From the iwevents log:

[Mon Sep 25 10:10:38 2006] RB\f1usr24 tsusers SyncDestroy \default\main\test\WORKAREA\dev \bod\exmapl3.cfm FILE

Here is the corresponding error in the servletd_out.log

Any help on this one would be greatly appreciated!!

I could post the presentation template, but I have had other users generate the page using the exact same pt and dcr with no errors. I'd be curious to find out what the retCode: 5 indicates........

On the first note; interwoven error messages are not very elaborative or easy to understand.

Secondly, i suggest you to check the role / permissions of the user over the folder and access priviledges. This has come out as you have said repeatedly that all other users are able to generate.

I have checked the role/permissions of this user and they are identical to the users that generate successfully. Access to the folder is through group access and we have verified the the user is configured as being part of the correct group......

This is a frustrating problem......

I guess what I'm wondering is if your PT is attempting to make a system call or perform some other function that this user may not have access to? Also, if your output file is intended to live at /output/foo.txt, let's say, can you touch this file (i.e. execute the "touch" command in a shell) as this user?

Hey Dave,

Thanks for the reply.....the PT is actually very simple....it does not call any external function, or even any inline perl script. The only thing we do is the typical iw_ stuff (iw_value and one iw_if statement). Other than that the pt is straight html code.

Hmm... strange. Well, other than trying to "touch" the generated file as this user, I'd contact support on this. In my opinion, there is no excuse for software with licensing costs like TeamSite's to provide such nebulous error messages and fail to give any detail as to the specific nature of the error (i.e. "retCode: 5").

If / when you do call support, please update this thread with the solution -- it's very likely that others will experience the same problem eventually!

You may want to log in as that user on the server and use a shell prompt to run iwpt_compile to see if you can narrow down the issue. Since it is only happening to one user permissions are a likely culprit. But then the user may be cursed. Seen that before. Smiley Very Happy
