Using Tomcat for JSP preview

Forgive me for what might be a stupid question --

This is regarding TeamSite 6.5 SP2 on Windows 2003

The version of Tomcat that Teamsite uses for itself is customized for Teamsite - correct?

If I want to use a newer version of Tomcat as a preview for JSPs in a branch (to match the production environment version of Tomcat), I should install and run an (additional) different instance of Tomcat and configure the iw-proxy to go to my new version of TomCat for that branch's previews - correct?

You have it pretty well understood. I have never tried to install a second instance of Tomcat but it should not be an issue, as long as you put it on a different port and proxy to it. If there was a problem, you could always run Tomcat on a different system and proxy over to it.

Try it and post any issues you see, but you are on the right track

Hi there,

I'm planning to do the same thing. How things going on with two Tomcat instance installed in TeamSite server.

Would you recomment it?

Can I use also the TeamSite Tomcat? I just need to use it for a simple jsp code for preview.

We've had the second install of Tomcat working for several months now. The only issue we have is that while navigating through the site in preview mode, sometimes images don't show up (a direct click on a file previews fine). It's possible that if I looked deeper into the mapping in either TeamSite's or Tomcat's config files, I could get this image issue resolved.

The new instance of Tomcat is running on port 8085

We had to play with different syntax on the iw.cfg file to get the correct syntax for preview, but here's what worked:

_regex=^/iw-mount/default/main/branch_name/WORKAREA/workarea_name/jsp_files/directory_name/(.*)$=http://titanteam:8085/directory_name/$1
_regex=^/iw-mount/default/main/branch_name/WORKAREA/workarea_name/jsp_files/(.*)$=http://titanteam:8085/directory_name/$1

and what we added to tomcat's server.xml file
