I am on 6.5 sp2 on win 2000. I remember using this include statement longtime ago, not it doesn't work. I guess we can use this inlude syntax.
has anyone done this before?

Well, it should work (if you're letting users select the file to be included you should probably use #include virtual, as #include file will only include a file from the current directory). If you haven't changed your virtualisation server config, then you'll need to do that - see p.63 of the TS 6.5 installation guide - you'll need to install the redirector module and set up an iwproxy_plugin_remap.

Like I said, it should work, we have includes running fine on our dev server, but on our (identical) production server, they just won't play ball, our users all see the text 'Error processing SSI file' where the include should be - we've had a case open with Iwov for oh... 206 days...

That's an SSI command. Include itself is performed by Web Server upon rendition, not by TST on generation.

Check if your generated file contains something like 
Note that SSI Commands have syntax of XML Comment. Since you are using XML PT Syntax comment lines were probably ignored

Oh... Maybe I miss-understood - do you want the the file to be included at generation time or at request time?

So should i be uncommenting the include statement? I have configured the Redirector module for IIS. But still my server side includes doesn't work. Please advice.

No, the include statement should be inside a comment. Are you seeing anything in the rendered page where the included file should be (something along the lines of 'Error processing SSI file' or 'Unable to process this directive')? What about in the page source? Do you see the include statement?

If you don't see the error on the rendered page but the include statement is in the source, have you restarted IIS and done an iwreset?

One other thing to check is that SSI is enabled on IIS - in the IIS manager, click on your server, then on 'Web Services Extensions'. The status of 'Server Side Includes' should be 'Allowed', if it isn't, click on Server Side Includes and then click the Allow button.

Your generated code does not contain SSI include directive. The reason is that you are using XML PT syntax and include line is
ignored by TST Engine. Something like the following should do the trick
