copy a branch, editions,workareas

I need to copy a branch which includes the editions and workareas.
The new branch will have different filename..

Good luck, try iwmigrate, that *should* do the trick (not certain about workareas). But that was not the initial intent of that application.

Post what happens. Try it on your dev server first. Smiley Very Happy

Do you just want to rename the branch or move from one server to another? TS version?

Try rename from CCPro if you are using 6.5.x. There are a few caveats though. Search the forums and you will find a bunch of posts about this. Also you might want to read up on iwmigrate.

copy the same branch in same backing store with different branch name.
basically duplicate it and later on remove that old branch.

boy oh boy, I don't think TS has a feature for that...

you could iwmigrate to another store (iwmigrate forcefully copies the branch under the exact same full path in the other store). Rename the store (you can only change the branch name, not its location/path). Then migrate back (or keep as separate store). Ugly? Sure.

EDIT: and iwmigrate doesn't copy workareas... there's no way to copy workareas but to make a script for it... pretty much every Teamsite developer at one point in his life makes one of those, I think ;-)

Additional Edit (by me) - that should say, "Rename the branch" in the second, temporary, store - and then: iwmigrate it back to the default store and remove the second, temporary, store (unless you have, or are planning to purchase, a license for the second store).

Also - I believe one of the 5.x conversion / migration packages from Support contained a script for copying workareas - though personally - I'd rather write my own so I know what it's doing. (Hint: look at the iwlistmod and possibly iwlistlocks, and probably iwextattr CLTs)
