Error While accessing MediaBin via Teamsite

Hi All,

I am not able to run the MediaBin samples, I am using teamsite 6.5 on solaries box. when i tried to priview the DCT it's throwing me the following error:

From the forum i found that give full access to transfer folder, i did that also but not able to get a privew and the images are not downloaded on the teamsite import dir. Please suggest me some solution

From the description above, I suspect you are using the ECM Connector 1.1 software? Since you are using TeamSite 6.5, I strongly recommend that you upgrade to ECM Connector 2.0. The ECM Connector 2.0 became a standard feature of TeamSite in a recent 6.5 SP2 patch (released in March) and solves many of the ECM 1.1 issues, particularly with respect to file permissions on Solaris. It also simplifies the DCT configuration and allows arbitrary MediaBin retrival tasks to be invoked (and much more).

I presume the browse dialog is working OK so that you can select the asset? If so, the MediaBin SOAP api is obviously working and you have a good userid and password configured.

I cannot tell from the error message posted if you are hitting a file permission issue, or if the PT is not fetching the correct MB ID from the DCR? With the 1.1 code on Solaris, you need to make sure the "iwui" user has read/write persmissions on the directories where the assets are going to be imported. If you have root permission, you can "su - iwui" and navigate to the /.iwmnt/path-to-import-dir and see if you have permission to create a file. If this works OK, it seems the issue is likely with the PT tag getting the MB Id from the DCR (check your xpath).

Note: For file permissions, the 2.0 code imports files as the current TeamSite user instead of the iwui user (much better). This required some changes to TeamSite, which is why the 1.1 solution didn't have a good solution.

If you want to upgrade to ECM 2.0, make sure to remove your 1.1 solution from the toolkits.xml file and rebuild the ContentCenter UI (iw-home/install/install_webapps.ipl -f content_center). The 1.1 solution includes an older version of the MediaBin API and it will override the newer version shipped with the 2.0 solution because the 1.1 code is a "customer toolkit" and those have prescedence when the same jar file exists in more than one toolkit. Make sure to look at the appendix for configuration MediaBin in the ECM Guide for a smooth transition to the ECM 2.0 solution (you need to open the permissions a little on the SOAP service transfer directory).

Thanks for the suggestions Cliff.

I am using ECM Connector 2.0 and the mediabin login user has good privileges at MediaBin server.

The assets are not making it to TeamSite through the ECM connector plugin. We are thinking if this is a folder permission issue.

1. What's the home directory for the ECM connector?
( i.e., The configuration files and other related files.), Can we modify any file like connector.xml for altering paths/userid etc.
2. Where is the import directory created (When importing files from MediaBin, which will write the assets into this TeamSite directory)
We have the default configuration of "imported/images" folder in the ECM connector, but are not able to get to this folder to check the permissions.

Also, are there any other steps you can suggest to debug this error.

Sorry for the delay in responding.

The ECM Connector does not have a "home" directory. All of the paths that are referenced (e.g., imported/images) are with respect to the current workarea. The ECM Connector will create this directory if it does not exist and will also create sub-folders based on the folders in MediaBin. This means that the user that is causing the import to happen (e.g., the forms publisher user that pressed the "preveiw" or "generate" button) must have priveleges to write to create this folder and sub-folders in the current workspace.

As far as debugging, first make sure a "simple import" works without using Forms Publisher. If the MediaBin connection has been configured on the Admin screen, the "Import" button in CCPro (also under File > Import), will give you the ability to import from MediaBin in addition to your client computer. When using this feature, the imported file will go into the current working directory, not the "imported/images" structure.

If simple import works, they you very likely have a permission problem when trying to import from FormsPublisher. You can override the import directory (and filename) from the presentation template if you want more control where files are stored.

Can you post the details of what you are encountering? Are you using ECM Connector 2.0 or 1.1? Can you look in the servlet log and see if there is a message with more details -- the error message in the log file should have more details than the message from the PT tag (especially in ECM Connector 2.0).
