Taks reassignment

In our workflow.. the users can go to workflow -> Task tab and select a task and in the bottom pane they can change owner text box by modifying the owner. Now how can we notify the new owner that there is this new task assigned to them. since this is not a Workflow template and it's workflow GUI.. ??

I suppose you could customize the GUI by replacing this function with another one that's labeled the same way. The users wouldn't think anything's different but your replacement function would reassign the task but also send an informative email to the task owner.
