Creating a page with DCR data

HI

I created a page and inserted data from a dcr via a component. The preview works fine but the deployed page on the production server displays a blank page. On viewsource the following error was observed

a) If components based on DCR are included in a page, should these DCR also be deployed along with the .page to the enduser webserver (Jakarta-tomcat) for the .page to render properly?

b) Will a html page generated out of a .page render on the enduser web server? I do not think this will work because of the LiveSite page framework involved. If possible, how?

c) Can any one provide me with exact process in which a Dcr based component be used to render data on the enduser web server? (It works in proview alright, but in the enduser env?) Are there any docs/articles that i can refer to?

d) Is there a process involved where in the dcr associated with components,templates or LS pages, are wrapped and deployed to enduser web server as war or jar file, that is referenced while a .page is rendered by the enduser web server?

Caused by: java.io.FileNotFoundException: /opt/LiveSite/enduser/tomcat/./../web/WEB-INF/templatedata/intranet/Demo/data/TestDCR (No such file or directory)

The DCR file isn't present on the runtime server or isn't in the correct location.

Everything I am about to say is slightly different if your site is based on SalesSite, which uses a database instead of reading from the file system...

Yes. The DCRs are included dynamically so that if the DCR changes you do not need to re-deploy all the pages that use it.

I'm not sure what you mean. Do you mean, that you pre-generated a .html file from a .page file using the "Generate HTML" option? In this case the .html page should render normally like any other .html page.

I'm not sure where the docs are for this. My guess, is that the DCRs are not getting deployed properly (they are either not deployed, or deployed to the wrong location or with the wrong permissions). You will need to consult the configuration files and log files for your OpenDeploy solution to debug this.

They do not get wrapped in a jar file, they are just deployed as regular files. The enduser web server looks for them in web-root/templatedata directory which is analogous to TeamSite's workarea-root/templatedata directory. The default, standard deployment workflows should handle this automatically out-of-the-box.

By default standard deployment workflow , did you mean the configurable_LiveSite_submit.wft or the Teamsite submit workflow.

if Configurable_livesite workflow, should the permissions in the available_template be defined at the branch level rather than at the workarea/sites level?

Does this mean that I have to submit DCR's and .pages separately (two submit actions)?
OR
Submitting of a .page containg a dcr will deploy both the .page and the dcr and I donot have to submit the dcr separately (Which is not happening now).

I have set the following in the available template.cfg file for the configurable_ls_submit workflow:

You need to submit both the .page and the DCR file and any other files the page relies on (like images and css and javascript) -- they do not get submitted automatically.

I don't know much about the workflow system so I'm not sure if that config file is correct (I THINK that the branch elements need to name branches, not directories, but I could be mistaken). You might try asking on the TeamSite forum and posing this as a general workflow issue.
