Ongoing problem installing VisualFormat

Hi,

I am having trouble installing VisualFormat on my machine.

I am using IE 6.0.2 on Win XP (SP2?) - with Local Admin rights
Interwoven TeamSite 6.5.0 Service Pack 2

- I have tried to install the ActiveX control within IE as usual, which did not work.
- I have downloaded the Application and installed it directly from Desktop and it didnt work.
- I have uninstalled any previous versions of VFormat.
- I am local administrator of my machine, but have tried installing it with an Administrator account
- I have uninstalled and reinstalled JVM software.

The error message (attached) says that a number of files did not self-register or unregister.

If anyone has any suggestions on the next steps, they would be greatly appreciated.

FYI - This machine was used previously by another user who had no isses with VF. Is it likely to be a conflict between multiple Windows profiles?

The tools comes from ektron. Try scaning their doco for clues.

I found what could have been a very helpful article (http://www.ektron.com/developers/ewebeditprokb.cfm?id=591) but have followed through most of the solutions without luck.

I am still in the process of getting the IT guys back down here to re-try the install as a full administrator (rather than my local admin privliges) and to reinstall IE.

Any other suggestions???

Check all the IE settings (especially the "advanced" settings) for both users - the one for which it works, against the one for whom it doesn't work.

did you try a complete uninstall, then client install?

This is with regards to: CEC: VisualFormat error/cannot open DCT. My name is Rupinder and I would you assisting you with case.

Below are the steps to completely remove the VFE install from the client's machine.

If you installed automatically through Internet Explorer:

On your computer, go to your main windows folder such as c:\windows, c:\winnt or c:\win98. Find a sub folder named Downloaded Program Files. In that folder, find the eWebEditPro file named: (version 4.x) eWebEditProLibCtl4.eWEPLoader or (version 3.x) eWebEditProLibCtl3.eWebEditPro or (version 2.x) eWebEditProLibCtl.eWebEditPro or (version 1.x) eWebEditorPro.eWebEditPro

Right click on the file and select Remove.

Next, go to the system32 directory and look for the following files:

Version 4.x

ActBar2.ocx

eWebEditToolbar4.ocx

eWebEditRTF4.ocx

ekclean4.dll

ewebschemastore4.dll

Version 3.x

ActBar2.ocx

eWebEditToolbar3.ocx

eWebEditRTF3.ocx

ekversion.dll

ekclean3.dll

ewebschemastore3.dll

Version 2.x

ActBar2.ocx

eWebEditToolbar.ocx

eWebEditRTF.ocx

ekversion.dll

ekclean.dll

If you see any of those files, you may have to open up a Command Prompt and unregister those files using regsvr32 /u {file name}.

In the Command Prompt change directory to the system32 directory. For example, cd windows\system32, cd winnt\system32 or cd win98\system32

CAUTION: The ActBar2.ocx file may be used by other applications on your computer. If you do not plan to re-install eWebEditPro Client, do not unregister ActBar2.ocx.

Now type: regsvr32 /u actbar2.ocx and press enter. You should get a message box telling you the operation succeeded.

Repeat those steps for the remaining files and once you have finished, delete the files and reboot the machine.

The Java Client Users should go to the /httpd/iw/ewebeditpro20/httpd/iw/ewebeditpro20, double click on "visualformatclient.exe". This will launch installer and prompt for reinstall/remove. User should select "remove". After this step, it still necessary to go to IE and remove "eWebEditProLibCtl.eWebEditpro" from Tools/Internet Options/Settings/View Objects (if it's not done previously).

The editor is now completely removed from the system.
