adding new item in DCR

Hi All,

Need some ideas. I need to update the DCRs . There are 4 items in my replicant and I need to replace and add new item through a perl script.
What should be the best approach?

I do not think that I completely understand what you are looking for,
but going though all DCRs and parse one by one and modifying whatever you need is pretty easy.

You can add new items as well using XML: Smiley Very Happy

OM but there is some amount risk involved in this as you may be updating ample number of DCRs in one go...A good amount of testing is recommended Smiley Happy

You can parse each dcr and replace or add new replicant; it is simple, we have already done this kind of work using XML DOM parser.

My suggestion would be to use XML DOM to parse and put values. In order to be more accurate... Read the values of existing items, store in variables, remove the replicant and put a new chunk of item/value pair instead of putting a single item/value pair in between existing ones.

If you use windows and can access the Y drive (or something similar with Samba) then you could use a search and replace tool. I use SR32.exe from here http://www.funduc.com/search_replace.htm It supports regex. After you have done the search and replace then you'll have to submit your changes. All files will have the same approximate modified date. This method of course has a drawback, if you use the app to just modify all then anything (submitted, or not) will be edited and it will be difficult to decide what needs to be submitted again. But, I leave the work of deciding what to submit for the content contributors.
